Solution is to just cut it off and remove it while you do the mod above. The grommet on the R129 is made in two parts (separable) and fits the bare harness. 3. The harness (from the DME connector to the valve cover holder) is shorter on the W140 version than on the R129.

After all it is the same chassis only different motors. Perhaps we can request for further verification from other members.

I found that there are variables that are not written specs that can make them fit or not. BTW I think it's ET 34, not 32, or at least for my R129's. Still, even with the right size and the right ET a certain wheel may, or may not, fit because of the design between the hub mounting and the bead.
This reduces the life of the engine oil so it should be changed more frequently. As the oil circulates it passes through a filter. Mercedes Benz uses a cartridge type filter that fits in a housing on the 119 V8 engine. This needs to get replaced every time you change the engine oil.
